After receiving this attractive baby book I noted it was made in China. The paint on the cloth seemed very bright and thick. In remembering the news articles about bright, shiny paint used by the Chinese in painting children’s toys, I just couldn’t bring myself to give it as a baby gift to my nephew and his wife. I have opened it, but I don’t feel good about giving it to Goodwill either. I may need to throw it away . . . though that is a sad thought also.

This is one of our baby’s favorite toys. She loves to crinkle the pages, lift the baby face up and down, and look at herself in the mirror. It never seems to get old. When the book is out of her reach she will motion towards it until someone hands it to her!
By the way, I do not understand M. A. Spyker’s review — this person seems to think that the product contains lead simply because it made in China and has bright colors. I would advise this person to CHECK THE LABEL. Most new children’s products have a “CE” mark or other indication of lead testing. If not, CALL OR EMAIL THE MANUFACTURER. I have done so on several occasions when I am uncertain about a product’s safety. If Ms. Spyker has any evidence supporting her claim that this product was made with lead paint, I hope that she will share it. Otherwise, I hope she will refrain from publishing alarmist commentary.

This was my son’s absolute favorite baby toy! The images and textures were stimulating for brand new eyes and he loved the crinkle sounds! It washes up well too.
